Riverwalk Place, a resort and spa in Gladwin, announced today its plans to expand in 2017, focusing on accommodating the growing demand and better serving guests.

The remodel will include an additional three hotel rooms, an expanded banquet space, and a new Riverwalk Place Front Desk, intended to be the information hub for the building.

“We’ve been listening to our customers in 2016, and we’re excited to have the opportunity to provide what our guests are asking for in 2017,” says Guest Services Manager Shelby Marshall.  Three new hotel rooms will include a king handicap room, a double queen room, and a king jacuzzi room.

Marshall explained that the Front Desk information hub will be especially helpful for the community.  “We get questions all of the time asking about Gladwin. Now we will have the resources to provide information to our guests who are unfamiliar with the area.”  The new Front Desk will include extended evening and weekend hours for check-in and events, as well as continental breakfast options.

A larger banquet room, planned to fill the current check-in desk and a portion of existing storage space, will accommodate more guests, allowing Riverwalk Place to host events for over three hundred.

The expansion will require construction on the northwest corner of the building, where the shopping boutique Chic Boutique is currently located.  The boutiques will combine into a single location, making it possible to pursue an excelled knowledge of product, as well as a tailored approach to acquiring the items and styles that interest the unique needs of boutique shoppers.

“We pride ourselves on offering an experience in our boutique that you simply can’t get at a big box store, a department store or a mall,” explains Boutique Owner Carole Dennings. “This transition will help us stay true to that purpose – focusing on offering the trendy, quality product and that unique shopping experience our customers love.”

Renovations began shortly after Christmas to prepare the shopping boutique for transition toward a heightened focus on the customer.  Construction of the hotel rooms and information desk is expected to be completed in March of 2017.
